A story of commitment
In February 1991, on the occasion of a meeting of FAJER (Andalusian Federation of Gamblers in Rehabilitation) in Torremolinos, all the Associations that were already operating throughout Spain and a few Associations that were taking their first steps in this process came together. They took advantage of the meeting to gather and discuss the need to unite in a body that would allow them to have a stronger position before the Public Administrations.
The Steering Committee
This meeting resulted in a Steering Committee, which undertook to summon all the associations that existed throughout Spain to a meeting in Madrid to try to put this plan into effect. This meeting was held in Leganés on 18 May of that year. As a side note, the meeting took place in the former Mental Hospital of Leganés.
The Associations of Vigo, Malaga, Cordoba, Seville, Pamplona and Leganés were present at that meeting and FEJAR was established as reflected in the Founding Charter.

FEJAR is born
From that date on, FEJAR started to operate. After various stages which saw various associations join and leave, we organised Meetings and Congresses and all kinds of events, in which FEJAR believes we need to be represented as a group. It must be understood that being united in a Federation is crucial to be able to effectively advocate for your interests at the national level.
In 2016, we commemorated our 25th anniversary year by holding several events.
